The Horror Continues….. at Imago Shopping Mall

Halloween Returns with Another Horror Story at Imago Mall! Okay, I talked about this two entries ago and I managed to score an invitation to attend the Media Event of Imago’s new Horror House, The Reformatory. The event was on a Thursday so I took a day off to attend with a bunch of media friends. Here are some of the photos that we took outside the Horror House that day (can’t take any photos inside the house though… but it was very dark inside anyway, so all we could do was scream our heads off!)

horror-at-imago

How you can gain access to The Reformatory:

  • Spend RM100 and above in accumulated receipts at outlets in Imago Shopping Mall, on a single day only. You can then redeem your The Reformatory ticket, which allows a group (of min. 2 and maximum 4 people) to enter The Reformatory.
  • A group is limited to two to four people only. You’re forbidden from bringing in valuables such as handbags, mobile phones, etc to The Reformatory. These should be kept in the locker before entry.
  • Behave accordingly! As it’s a Halloween event, there will be frightening effects. Don’t push other participants, damage the surroundings or making extreme physical contact with the staff, or else you’ll be expelled from the event.
  • Remember, if you feel any discomfort at the event, you can raise up a STOP sign (given to you upon entry), and shout STOP. You’ll be escorted out.
  • The following people are not allowed to participate in the Reformatory: People with heart problems, nervous conditions or related diseases, people who suffer from fear of enclosed spaces, those who are sensitive to strobe or flash lights, pregnant women, and children under 16 year of age.

Enter The Reformatory….

1

The Reformatory carries a reputation for its highly guarded and strict security system, but in reality it carries hidden secrets buried within its walls. Wails of terror can be heard from outside the walls of The Reformatory. No one knows what happened inside the prison. Are the prisoners still alive or dead? You are about to find out….

9

Will you survive The Reformatory?

Jonah Trish (Prisoner No. IM00015), Sam Welding (Prisoner No. IM00016), Gina Joseph (Prisoner No. IM00033), and Brenda Johnson (Prisoner No. IM00034), death row prisoners who long protested their prison sentences and claimed to be innocent of the crimes they were convicted, were all sent to a secret prison facility to be reformed, or executed if the rehabilitation fails. This secret facility is known amongst the inmates as The Reformatory. No one actually knows what happens there, but prisoners sent there never returned.

They woke one day to find their cell doors opened. The block they were in was silent. They left their cells slowly and stepped into the corridor. Blood on the floor. No, it was everywhere! As they stepped further, they found their fellow inmates on their bed, dead and desecrated. A voice called out from the dark at the end of the corridor. Two wardens, crawling on the floor barely alive, with blood flowing from their hands reaching out to them, begging for help.

The prisoners started running, a slithering sound chasing after them. They ran, only to find another warden trying to pry open the rusty metal door at the other end of the corridor. The lights flickered and went out. The air turned cold. Awfully cold. Evil cold. Chills ran down their backs. A dark shadow was slowly approaching them, and it whispered, “No mercy.” Are they alive or dead?

2

Upon entering The Reformatory, you will be cuffed and given a candle that will be your only source of light in the darkened halls of The Reformatory

Proceed with caution The halls are be very dark and you will run into some rabid prisoners trying to scare the living crap out of you.

10

At least someone is excited to enter… :p

5

7

It can’t be that bad when this dude could still chill out here, right?

We made it out of The Reformatory, alive and well! We survived without killing anyone in the process. Well, I did dropped my candle and it went out! So we (kind of stole) one candle from the stairs because we couldn’t see a thing! Other than that, it was pretty okay.

11

Well Obviously, this one didn’t make it… :'(

I am impressed with the whole concept of the Horror House. I loved this year’s theme and marketing campaign. I had a good laugh watching all the campaign videos! I think there’re really creative and funny. My final verdict? Well, this is definitely something that is worth trying at least once!

IMAGO Shopping Mall Returns with a Larger and Spookier Haunted Prison – The Reformatory this Halloween Season!

Remember Imago’s very famous Infirmary last year? Well, they’re back with something NEW!

Imago Shopping Mall has again produced a series of events for its patrons this Halloween. Themed as The Reformatory, this is the second time Imago has produced such an event after the success of last year’s event, The Infirmary, that saw long queues, from the centre court to almost the main entrance, waiting to enter the haunted house.

Welcome to the Reformatory… (inserts eerie music here)

THE REFORMATARY carries a reputation for its highly guarded and strict security system, but in reality it carries hidden secrets buried within its walls. In the end no one knows what had happened inside the prison. Are the prisoners still alive? Dead? What is the evil that lurks within its walls? Are you ready to face the fear? Do you want to be the first to experience THE REFORMATORY and find out what lies beneath?!

Gear up on the 8 and 9 October 2016 as a major prison break will take place in the mall. IMAGO wants you to help them find its prisoners roaming around the mall; snap a wacky picture of you with any of the prisoners between 10am to 10pm, and tag them on Facebook #Imagokk #Thereformatory #Halloween, and you will stand a chance to be one of the 200 lucky winners to receive an exclusive pass to THE REFORMATORY on the 13 October 2016.

refam1

Are you ready for some action this Halloween?

If you miss the exclusive invitation from Imago, don’t fret. You can tune in to hitz fm Sabah, ERA fm Sabah and MYFM Sabah from 17 – 21 October to win passes to THE REFORMATORY. Wait for the cue to call and you must be the first caller through. The participant to say “THE REFORMATORY at Imago” in the scariest way will stand the chance to win. That’s not the end of the contest. You must also end with an evil laugh!

For more info, visit Imago.my or log on to Imago Shopping Mall Facebook page.

#FreeMarketKotaKinabalu : By the People, For the People.

CeTXaOfWwAELY_V
The famous #FreeMarket finally touched our shores! The market took place in Masjid Bandaraya, Kota Kinabalu on 3rd April 2016, from 8am to 10.00 am.  This collaborative effort attracted around 500 visitors and 60 different contributors from all walks of life. The event was also joined by Hospital Queen Elizabeth providing free basic medical and dental check up to the public.

A Free Market is very much like a Flea Market, the only different is everything is FREE. It’s still a trade but the only type of currency accepted in this event is KINDNESS. If you want something, just ask for it nicely and say THANK YOU at the end of your transaction. This concept of this event might be a bit alien to us in Kota Kinabalu, especially those who are not familiar with the works of Syed Azmi and his crew. But about 200 Free Markets have been successfully organized all over Malaysia since it was first initiated.

Syed Azmi

Syed Azmi briefing the contributors about the Freemarket.

Our first ever #FreeMarketKotaKinabaluVisitors was a complete success. Visitors were able to choose from a wide array of items, from food, brand new wares, clothing, bedsheets and toys to vegetables that were all arranged neatly. Even though the market was estimated to last 2 hours… most stalls were completely empty by 9am. Some stalls ran out of stuff to give out within 30 minutes, especially those distributing items like sugar, eggs and rice.

Contributors came as early as 6.30am to setup their stalls and arrange their items.

Clothes

Take the clothes, but not the hangers.

I didn’t get to take that many photos. I thought I would be able to walk around once the event started. But I was wrong. Even though my booth was completely empty after forty minutes, I stayed to help out the neighbouring booths with their items. By the time it was over, most stalls were sold out and the crowd moved to the organizers section where there were free haircut booth and free giant soap balloons for children.

I wonder who’s the kind soul who decided to donate his / her old collection of Dewata Raya and Pedang Setiawan. To be honest, I almost asked for these.

Festive Indulgence at Avangio Hotel, Metro Town.

The festive season is just around the corner. Are you in your festive mood yet? I know I am. Can’t wait to kickback and end the year in style! If you are like me, you are probably planning family gatherings and looking for a place to spend your time with family. Preferably over good food and drinks!

avangio

Recently, Avangio Hotel launched their restaurant’s Dinner Set Menu for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. It is a delightful gastronomical spread of fresh and succulent courses comprising of delectable appetizers, homemade soup, main courses selection of either turkey, salmon, or steak served together savoury accompaniments.

But what better way to describe all these delicious food than with photos right?

Canapes

Appetizers!

Appetizers are Prawn Canapé, Mango Salsa Canapé and Tuna Canapé. I really love the Prawn Canapé. It’s succulent and the prawns are not overcooked. Just enough taste to open up the taste buds for the next dish.

Oven Baked Salmon

I love Salmon! I love my Salmon raw and fresh. But I love it cooked as well (as long as I don’t have to do the cooking). I think the salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce really complement the taste of the salmon. The salmon was really my favourite that night.

They are offering two delicious Salmon dishes on the menu. The Oven Roasted Salmon for the Christmas Menu and the Grilled Salmon with Capers Cream Sauce (the taste was divine, BTW).

Lamb Rack with Garlic and Rosemary

Lamb Rack with Garlic and Rosemary

Hello meat! Meat eaters will love this Charboiled Lamb Rack with Garlic and Rosemary. It was clearly the night’s hit. The chef said Sabahan loves their meat and considering the amount of this people pile on their plates, I think he got a point there!

Turkey

Sliced Turkey with Cranberry Sauce

Next is the Sliced Roasted Turkey with Cranberry Sauce. The Cranberry Sauce was subtle and really brought the whole dish together. The Turkey was cooked just right. It was not too hard and not too tender.
